Katie is a "local girl" and is proud to be covering news in the city she grew up in. Katie went to Wellington High School where she reported and anchored for "WWU," also known as Wolverine Wake Up.

But she knew she wanted to be in news at a very young age, and was always glued to the TODAY show as a child when Katie Couric and Bryant Gumble anchored.

Katie went to the University of Central Florida in Orlando. (Go Knights!) While in college she interned at WESH 2 News in Orlando and WPTV. At UCF Katie reported and anchored for UCF Knightly news, and even tried covering sports a few times!

After graduation Katie moved to "Cajun Country," more commonly known as Lafayette, Louisiana. Katie covered everything from Mardi Gras parades, to the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl win, to the Deepwater Horizon disaster. While covering the oil spill, Katie was able to fly over the location of the Deepwater Horizon twice and covered countless stories on the lives affected by the disaster.

During her time in Lafayette, Katie also won an Associated Press award for her coverage of a serial killer that was haunting a local community.

But Katie knew she wanted to come back "home" and took a job in Fort Myers, Florida. There she covered the tourist beat, along with many other local stories.

Now, she's officially back home. Katie feels very lucky to cover news at her "dream station" and is open to your story ideas.
