A 'no swimming” advisory is in effect for Dubois Park Wading Lagoon, after recent sampling showed high bacterial levels in the water, according to the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County.
Officials say the causes of the elevated bacterial level are unknown, but are generally associated with wildlife, heavy recreational use or runoff following heavy rains.
Test for the bacteria showed 90 colonies per 100 milliliters of marine water, the health department said.
Contact with the water may pose increase risk of infectious disease, particularly for susceptible individuals.
