A 60-year-old Loxahatchee Groves man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday evening on Southern Boulevard.
According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report, Robert Owen Preston, 60, of Loxahatchee Groves was driving a 2001 Jaguar west on Southern Boulevard just after 5:30 p.m.
A second driver, Jason Pectal, 45, of Loxahatchee was also traveling west in a 2008 Ford F-450 in the left center lane but stopped in traffic just east of Lamstein Lane.
According to witnesses, Preston approached Pectal’s vehicle at or near the posted speed limit of 50 mph and without applying any braking, violently struck the rear of Pectal’s truck.
Preston was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pectal was transported to Palms West Medical Center for minor injuries and later released.
