FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The World Cup is not the only venue where soccer is passionately played.
An on-field disturbance during a official sanctioned "Futbol" game in Fort Pierce last Sunday prompted police to respond.
Fort Pierce police said they were called to Dreamland Park at 301 S 25th St. at 10:44 a.m.
Investigators said that one of the players told police that while he was down on the field he was kicked by a player on the other team.
The player who says he was kicked got angry and pushed the other player, according to police.
Witnesses say that the two then got into a fight. Both players were red carded and suspended from further play.
One of the players was taken to a local hospital and treated for a cut eye.
Neither player wanted to press charges and no arrests were made.
